New apart-hotel opens in Copenhagen with bags of creative flair

Described by Forbes as one of the '25 coolest hotels in the world', new hybrid hotel chain Zoku opened its first property in Copenhagen this spring. Located in the Ørestad area in Amager, two metro stops from Kongens Nytorv, it offers a distinctly different work-live space experience, along with meeting rooms and a co-working space, and is part of a wave of new apart-hotels sweeping Europe ideal for global nomads, long-stay and business travellers.

Along with its sister hotels in Amsterdam and Vienna, Zoku offers bedrooms that combine a living space with kitchen and desk with a loft-style sleeping space. As the stairs can be stowed away when not in use, it gives travellers two distinct areas, rather than just a bedroom, for entertainment, work and relaxation. There are a total of 160 rooms in five different sizes in the property, including several wheelchair accessible options.

Furnishings come from Hay, one of Denmark's leading interior design brands, and if the artwork in the room is not to your taste, guests can choose from an array of alternative art options.

When you're not working, head for the top of the hotel, where you'll find a light and airy bar, a restaurant and well designed co-working spaces, with an additional gaming room if you're looking for some time out. The hotel also offers communal dining so those staying for longer can get to know each other, and has a coordinator on staff to help with red tape and organisation for those relocating to Denmark. Live music in the evenings plus yoga and brunch on Sundays are some of the entertainments on offer for locals and residents alike.

There is an additional light and colourful event space (110 sqm, for up to 30 people) and three meeting rooms that can be booked separately for board meetings and similar, variously seating 6-14 people.
