Samsø Museum
Samsø Museum communicates Samsø’s cultural history through exhibitions and activities.
The main part of the museum is located in a former dairy dating from 1911- and here it is obvious to start a visit to the museum.
Here you’ll find an exhibition about Samsø during the Viking Age, an introductory film to Samsø’s history and you can also shop for local arts and crafts in the museum shop, where we also have a wide selection of books on nature, history, anthropology and of course, Samsø.
The dairy also houses an exciting activity centre for children, which we call the History Universe. Here, children can learn about a number of historical periods and monuments through colourful tales and hands-on experiments.
Just 50 metres from the dairy is Samsø Museumsgård (an old Samsø farm), where you can experience an historical farming setting from the 1850s as it would have looked on Samsø.
The dairy also serves as tourist information all weekends April to September.
Read more on the website www.samsoemuseum.dk, where there is a calendar of the museum’s many activities and an overview of its other visitor attractions.
Samsø Museum is part of Moesgaard Museum (Museum in Aarhus).
