Myrhøj Stenrække
Myrhøj Stone Row is one of Denmark's most fascinating ancient monuments, located at the Bronze Age burial mound Myrhøj. This impressive row of standing stones extends from the edge of the burial mound and includes several stones engraved with sacred symbols. In the middle of the stone row, there is an Iron Age grave, while Stone Age houses lie beneath the stone row, testifying to the area's long and rich history.
The stone row at Myrhøj, originally 156 meters long, is a rarity in Denmark. Today, 64 stones remain standing, but it is unknown how many there originally were. The precise meaning of the stone row is still a mystery, but its location may be connected to the position of the sun or the moon, as the sun rises directly over the stone row around midwinter, coloring the strange ancient monument red.
The area around Myrhøj is a unique archaeological site, representing the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age through a mixture of houses, graves, and religious cult practices.
