Knud Rasmussen’s House is situated on a natural plot near Spodsbjerg Lighthouse, offering a breathtaking view over the Kattegat. Built in 1917, the house served as the polar explorer’s workplace between his expeditions, and today it functions as a museum and memorial.

Memorial Cairn

On the museum’s grounds, there is a memorial cairn made from stones brought from Greenland, paying tribute to Knud Rasmussen’s achievements. Since 1939, the house has functioned as a museum and was restored after a fire in 2011 to bring it closer to its original appearance.

Every year, the museum presents a new special exhibition focused on Knud Rasmussen and his expeditions. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in fascinating themes related to his life and work.

  • Knud Rasmussen’s House is easily accessible on foot or by bicycle, and parking is available nearby. Signs point the way from Skansevej, where visitors can find the parking lot.
  • Admission to Knud Rasmussen’s House is 75.00 DKK (free for children and young people under 18).
  • The house opens on March 23, 2024, and will remain open until the end of the autumn holidays in week 42. Tuesday-Sunday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
  • Season 2025: April 12 - October 19: Tuesday-Sunday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, closed on Mondays. Open on holidays and Mondays during the Easter and autumn holidays.
