Hjarnø Camping

Nothing is more de-stressing than a holiday on an island. At Hjarnø Camping, you can feel the authentic island atmosphere on your body when you stay in a caravan, tent or cabin on the small island in Horsens Fjord.

Island holiday at the charming campsite

It is not without reason that Hjarnø Camping has been named Denmark’s cosiest campsite. Here you will find the perfect setting for a stress-free holiday, where you and your loved ones are the focus of the rural idyll. Located on the scenic island of Hjarnø in the mouth of Horsens Fjord, you have the optimum conditions for enjoying the tranquil countryside and child-friendly swimming beaches.

Small campsite with excellent facilities

The site is ideal for families with small children, as it is no bigger than that even the smallest can find their way around, but despite its limited size, there are excellent facilities. In the large, cosy main building there are toilet facilities, a kitchen, laundry room, a washing up room, a living room and an outdoor kitchen.

At the campsite shop you can buy groceries, bread, rolls and Danish pastries, and there is a terrific newly-built playground for the children. The whole family can compete at the park golf course.

If you do not have a caravan, then you have the option to rent one of the cosy wooden cabins. You can stay overnight in a 4-person cabin or a luxury 25 sqm. cabin, equipped with, among other things, a TV and dishwasher. The site also has two glamping tents with comfortable double beds and the option to rent a mobile home.

Read more about the option to rent a cabin, glamping tent, and mobile home at this page.

Beautiful Hjarnø

Hjarnø has beautiful scenery and a cosy island atmosphere. The island is relatively small and a walk around the island takes just a few hours. There is a unique peace and quiet over Hjarnø. There is no traffic noise here - it is the animals, wind and waves on the fjord that mark the soundscape. Along the coast there are lovely beaches where you can cool down, and inland you will find, among other things, a place to eat, a farm shop and Denmark’s second smallest church.

Hjarnø is quite close to the mainland and Snaptun, from where the ferry departs more than 30 times a day. It takes just 5 minutes to get to the island, and Hjarnø has Denmark’s most easily accessible island atmosphere.
