Experience hills, castles and manors
Nyborg and Nyborg Castle was founded in the late 12th century. The king needed a fortification on the significant and strategic location. In the following centuries Nyborg was developed to become not only the most important fortification in Denmark, but the first capital of Denmark, residence of king and house of the medieval parliament (Danehof). As such most of the nobility took residence in Nyborg. On this bike tour we pass three castles: Holckenhavn Castle, Juelsberg estate and of course Nyborg Castle. You travel on primarily minor roads passing active water mills, idyllic lakes and through forests among the coast line and open landscapes around Nyborg. We pass under the Great Belt Bridge and visit the old royal town of Nyborg.
There will be a knowledgeable guide who explains what we pass.

Add on
It is possible to end the tour at Nyborg Distillery, where you can have a guided tour and a taste of their local and organic produce such as whisky, gin or rum. It is also possible to make a stop at one the old merchants houses in Nyborg for a tasting with other produce such as the famous rygeost (smoked cheese), which is one of only two cheese which originates from Denmark.

There are a total of 123 castles and manors in Fyn, so the above is a small part of these - all located in East Fyn around Nyborg.

Please wear comfortable shoes and remember clothes according to weather. Bikes are high quality, 27 speed, unisex touring bikes. You will be provided with a drinking bottle filled with water for the tour.
