Erslev lime kiln was erected around 1930. A lime pit was opened already in the 19th century, mainly used by working people. For a fee they could harvest their own lime and sell it to farmers, thereby supplying the family income.
Today the kiln is but a memorial, to an occupation that has become history. An exhibition has taken place in the building, telling a story of chalk and lime, of mining and incineration and of other local uses.
You'll hear exciting stories about the history of lime incineration, and of the life by the kiln.
